The Indian Council of Historical Research has appointed Raghuvendra Tanwar as its head (ICHR).
The Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR)
is a Ministry of Education captive entity constituted by Administrative Order. Through fellowships, scholarships, and symposia, the
organization has offered financial aid to historians and researchers.

The ICHR is supported by grants from the Department of Higher Education, grants from several
Indian states, individual donations, and income from the sale of ICHR publications. The ICHR is headquartered in Delhi and has regional offices in
Bengaluru (Karnataka), Pune (Maharashtra), and Guwahati (Assam). Its first chairman was the
historian Ram Sharan Sharma, who was nominated. Irfan Habib, Tapan Raychaudhuri, and Barun De are among the historians who have served as members or officials of the ICHR.
