Total 29 journalists from Print and Electronic Media were awarded for their contribution towards Journalism along with a Social Activist has been felicitated with the Bharat Meta shield. All the award winners have presented the Matri Shree Bharat Mata shield along with a pen by Mr. Swadesh Bhushan Jain, Working President of Punjab Kesari (Delhi) and Ashok Aggarwal the Chairman of the Committee.

The former mayor of New Delhi Municipal Corporation Mr. Adesh Gupta was also honored with the Matri Shree Media Award for his immense contribution in Social Services. As well as the Hindi Bollywood film 'Badhai Ho' starring Ayushman Khurrana, veteran actor Neena Gupta and others was also presented the Bharat Mata shield for narrating the different concept in a very light manner.

The award was started 43 years ago, during the Emergency Period in India in a view to honor the fighting spirit of the journalists. The first Matri Shree Award was given to the Martyr Journalist Lala Jagat Narayan, and the award was presented by the senior political leader of Delhi Vijay Kumar Malhotra.

The Matri Shri Bharat Mata Shield was presented to the journalists in 2019 among them few are Durga Prasad Mishra from PTI the Photo Journalist, Kunal Kashyap from Punjab Kesari, Jitender Kumar from Univarta, Namita from PTI Bhasha, Agraj Pratap Singh from UNI, Poonam Gaur from Navbharat Times, Sandeep Ashwario the Chief Cartoonist from Times of India, and Ravi Bhushan Dwivedi from Sandhya Times.
