On the behalf of the whole All India Radio, the Director General of All India Radio F. Sheheryar and Director General (News) Ms. Ira Joshi received the Award in an event organized at New Delhi. The award was presented by the Secretary in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry Amit Khare in the event. The Chief Guest of the event Shri Suresh Prabhu the Honourable Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation. While addressing the attendees of the event he emphasized his saying over Swachh Bharat Strategy and the need for everyone’s contribution in making India, a clean and hygienic nation in a way they can contribute is very important.
The Swachhata Pakhwada event was started on April 2016 with having the objective of putting forward a fortnight of intense focus on the concerned issues and practicing Swachhata by engaging Government of India Ministries/Departments under its jurisdictions. The Awards Ceremony and the Summit was inaugurated by the Guest of Honour Shri Hardeep Singh Puri the Honourable Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs. In the event the Life Time Achievement award was presented to Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, the Founder of Sulabh International.

The Swachhata Pakwada Summit was attended by more than three hundreds delegates from the numerous companies, public sector enterprises, Corporate Foundations, MSMEs & NGOs working for Indian people under Central/State Government, Municipalities, Village Panchayat, SMEs, and Start-ups. Apart from the winners All India Radio, other worth mentioning networks were Press Council of India, Press Information Bureau and BECIL were included at the award ceremony for their valuable efforts during the Swacchta Pakhwada. The Summit and Award ceremony was sponsored by NMDC, NALCO, GAIL, NSE, Laz Digital Learning, Green Ecofield India, and TERI was the Knowledge Partner.
