Dilip Vengsarakar, full name ‘Dilip Balwant Vengsarkar’ had the nickname ‘Colonel’. He is a former Indian Player and a Cricket Administrator.
Colonel made his debut against New Zealand at Auckland in 1975-76 as an Opening Batsman. He has been the key player in the Indian Batting line up in the late 70s and early 80s. He declared his retirement in 1992. He represented Bombay (Mumbai) in the Ranji Trophy.
He has been rated as the Best Batsman in ‘Coopers and Lybrand Rating’ during the peak of his career. He held the Number 1 slot for consecutive 21 months till March 2, 1989.
He was the member of the 1983 World Champion’s Team (World Cup) against the West Indies. Currently, he is been the team mentor and coach for ‘Telugu Warrior Team’ in CCL (Celebrity Cricket League) Season 5.
