When we only had three or four cameras with considerably worse zooms and angles to give us a 'birds-eye perspective' 'of the sport. Coming back to 41 years to a chilly day in Delhi, to the Ferozshah Kotla Ground, when Indian television history was formed.

The West Indians, headed by Gary Sobers, were on a tour of India, and as no Test match was scheduled in Delhi, the West Indians were forced to play a Prime Minister's XI there. Delhi was the focus of television coverage at the time, with Doordarshan being launched in the Indian capital in 1959.

Those were the days when radio commentary was the most popular way to learn about upcoming matches because television's reach was limited, it was black and white, and it didn't give 'Ball to Ball' coverage 'coverage similar' to that of radio

So the first cricket match that was telecasted in India was in 1959
