Kapil Dev led India to victory in the World Cup 1983.
Keeping in mind the previous track record of India in One Day International World Cup, India was the least favorite team to win the World Cup. But to be on the winning side they gave a good competition to their competitors.
India played their final match against team West Indies. At that time team West Indies had a good combination of players. The West Indies had the power-packed batting line-up comprising openers Gordon Greenidge and Desmond Haynes, followed by Vivian Richards and captain Clive Lloyd who were capable of destroying any bowling attack and were expected to show an extraordinary play in front of the mediocre bowling line up of team India.
But India presented a good bowling show and limited the WIndies team to 140 all out in the 53rd over. For the good bowling and batting by Lala Amarnath from team India has led him to earn his second consecutive Man of the Match award for his all-round effort in the final match as well.
