The leader of the house in the sixteenth Lok Sabha is Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. After the 2014 Indian General Elections, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) of the NDA won an absolute majority of 282 seats out of 543 seats. Mr Narendra Modi the PM candidate took the oath and assumed office on 26th May 2014 as the 14th Prime Minister of India. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Government of India has launched various schemes for the welfare and development of India and its citizens.  

Mr Narendra Modi (born on September 17th, 1950) is the member of the Lok Sabha for Varanasi. Mr Narendra Modi was born in Vadnagar, Bombay State, India (present-day Gujarat) in a Gujarati family. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 7th October 2001 – 22nd May 2014. Mr Narendra Modi is a member of the right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and is a member of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). Keshubhai Patel was the predecessor of Narendra Modi as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. After the 2001 Bhuj earthquake, Keshubhai Patel’s image became poor and simultaneously his Deteriorating health made way for Narendra Modi. Thus Narendra Modi became the 14th Chief Minister of Gujarat after Keshubhai Patel.
