The **leader of the house** in the **sixteenth Lok Sabha** is **Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi**. After the **2014** Indian General Elections, **Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)** of the NDA won an absolute majority of **282** seats out of **543** seats. Mr Narendra Modi the PM candidate took the oath and assumed office on **26th May 2014** as the **14th Prime Minister of India**. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the **Government of India** has launched various schemes for the welfare and development of India and its citizens.

Mr Narendra Modi **(born on September 17th, 1950)** is the member of the Lok Sabha for **Varanasi**. Mr Narendra Modi was born in **Vadnagar, Bombay State, India** (present-day **Gujarat**) in a Gujarati family. He was the **Chief Minister of Gujarat** from **7th October 2001 – 22nd May 2014**. Mr Narendra Modi is a member of the right-wing **Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS)** and is a member of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). **Keshubhai Patel** was the predecessor of Narendra Modi as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. After the **2001 Bhuj earthquake**, Keshubhai Patel’s image became poor and simultaneously his Deteriorating health made way for Narendra Modi. Thus Narendra Modi became the **14th Chief Minister of Gujarat** after Keshubhai Patel.
