RAM compatibility is determined by your motherboard, not your CPU. So, if you buy a Ryzen 3000, you'll need a motherboard with an AM4 socket. DDR4 RAM is typically recommended by modern motherboards with that socket. The third-generation Ryzen processors include native support for the DDR4-3200 standard. If your processor's Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) and motherboard are capable, you can still use faster memory.

When shopping for RAM for the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, keep the speed and capacity of each module in mind. Right now, the sweet spot for the processor is at least a kit of 16GB RAM clocked at 3000MHz.
