Steps to fix Microsoft Word not opening document issues:
- Navigate to the folder containing the file in Windows File Explorer, then right-click the file.
- Choose a programme to open with.
- Choose Microsoft Word from the drop-down menu. The file will open correctly the next time you pick it.
- Select File > Open > Browse from the File menu, then go to the file's location. The file should not be opened from the Recent area. Select the file you want, then pick Open and Repair from the Open drop-down arrow.
