- Navigate to the folder containing the file in Windows File Explorer, then right-click the file.
- Choose a programme to open with.
- Choose Microsoft Word from the drop-down menu. The file will open correctly the next time you pick it.
- **Select File > Open > Browse from the File menu,** then go to the file's location. The file should not be opened from the Recent area. Select the file you want, then pick Open and Repair from the Open drop-down arrow.
