Since its inception on January 19, 2006, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has celebrated Raising Day each year on January 19. The NDRF will observe its 17th Raising Day in 2022.
The
NDRF is an Indian specialized force established under the
Catastrophe Management Act of 2005 'for a specific reaction to a hazardous disaster scenario or disaster.' The
Prime Minister serves as Chairman of the NDMA. In
India, the state government must manage catastrophes. The
Ministry of Home Affairs is the federal administration's 'Nodal Ministry' for natural calamities management.
When 'calamities of serious existence' happen, the
Central
Government is accountable for supplying help and assistance to the injured limb, such as the deployment of
Armed Forces, Central Paramilitary Forces, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and such interaction, wind, and other resources as are accessible and required.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) oversees the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
The NDRF's Director Generals are IPS officials on assignment from the
Indian police forces. In contrast to the Director-General, the NDRF is a higher-level institution with many
Inspector Generals (IG) and Deputy IGs who are flag officers and wear rank badges.
