The Indian Railway Protection Force has initiated Operation AAHT to combat human trafficking.
The Indian Railway Protection Force has commenced a countrywide anti-human trafficking operation. Special teams would be dispatched on all long-distance train lines as part of 'Operation AAHT,' with an emphasis on rescuing victims, notably children and women, from the hands of traffickers. The railways, which run over 21,000 trains every day across the country, are the most dependable method of travel for traffickers, who frequently carry their captives on long-distance trains.
With a growing number of incidents, the RPF, which rescued over 2,000 women and children from the hands of traffickers between 2017 and 21, strengthened its campaign on human trafficking. Each year, the National Crime Records Bureau reports around 2,200 occurrences of Human Trafficking.
Human trafficking
Human trafficking, particularly of women and children for sexual exploitation, forced marriage, domestic slavery, organ transplantation, drug trafficking, and other heinous crimes, is an organized crime and the most heinous violation of human rights. Every day, thousands of Indians and people from nearby countries are trafficked to places where they are forced to live as slaves. 'They are also trafficked for illegal adoptive families, organ transplants, circus employment, charity, and the media industry.'
