Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has inked a licensing contract and transfer of technology contract (LAToT) with DRDO for the Akash Missile Weapon System. BDL is the Akash Weapon System's principal developer.
Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is a maker of ammunition and missile technology in India. It was originally founded in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. BDL was founded with a range of professionals recruited from Indian Ordnance Factories, DRDO, and the aircraft industry to be a production base for directed armaments. It started by creating a first-generation anti-tank assisted missile - the French SS11B1. This device was the result of a license arrangement between the Indian governmentand Aerospatiale. BDL has 3 production plants in Hyderabad, Telangana: Kanchanbagh, Bhanur, Medak district, Telangana, and Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
