According to a World Trade Organization (WTO) study report, India placed ninth in 2019 with 3.1 percent of worldwide agricultural exports.
In comparison to China, Brazil, and the United States, India's agricultural exports increased at a CAGR of 5.3 percent between 2010 and 2019. During this time, exports of coffee, cereals, and horticultural commodities more than quadrupled, while exports of meat, fish, and manufacturing products climbed 3-5 times.
Indian agriculture and horticulture goods, and also processed foods, are exported to more than 100 nations, including the Middle East, SAARC, and EU countries, as well as the United States. India has grown to be a large exporter of rice, meat, spices, raw cotton, and sugar, as well as a specialist exporter of specialty agricultural goods such as basmati rice, guar gum, and castor oil.
Farm exports in recent years: Following 3 years of stagnation, India's agriculture and allied product shipments climbed 17.34 percent year on year to US$ 41.25 billion in FY21. The existing fiscal year is expected to see a continuation of this growing trend. Strong global desire for oilseeds, oilcake, sugar, cotton, and non-basmati rice, along with government initiatives, would propel agricultural exports to moreover US$ 40 billion in FY22.
To boost agricultural commodity exports, the Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), and commodity boards such as the coffee, rubber, and spice boards have been authorized.
