*Agricultural Commissioner of India*

Gurcharan Singh Kalkat, the former agricultural commissioner of India and a recognized agricultural scientist who recently was demised on 27th of January 2018 at the age of 92 during his suffering from a terse malady.

He was conceived on 17th of June 1926 and was the Founder Chairman of the Punjab State Farmers Commission, he was recognized for his contributions to India’s Green Revolution. He was honored with the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shree Award in 2007 and 1981 respectively.

He has also been the Former Vice-Chancellor of the Punjab Agricultural University of Ludhiana from 1998 until 2001.

His contribution was phenomenal and considered to be outstanding in the agricultural territory in the Indian Country.
