Ticks in Telegram also indicate whether a message has been read, although they work a little differently than on WhatsApp.

While Telegram is transmitting your message, you'll see a clock symbol. If successful, this becomes a single check mark, indicating that your message was transmitted to the server successfully. Finally, two check marks on Telegram indicate that the other person saw the new message and opened your discussion.
The most significant distinction between WhatsApp and Telegram checks is that Telegram does not have a delivery status. This is owing to the fact that, unlike WhatsApp, you can use your Telegram account on numerous devices at the same time (due to its end-to-end encryption).
As a result, the Telegram service has no means of knowing if your message was delivered to a specific device. It wouldn't make sense to have a delivered status.
A single tick in Telegram group chats still indicates that your message was sent to the server. In a group conversation, a double-check indicates that your message was viewed by at least one person, but Telegram does not keep track of who that person was.
Unfortunately, Telegram does not allow you to turn off read receipts. This means that everyone will always be aware of whether or not their Telegram message has been read.
