Your iPhone's ringer mechanism may occasionally misbehave or become inconsistent due to random malfunctions. Toggling the Ringer switch off for a few seconds and then on again is the simplest option. So you'll be moving your iPhone X from ring mode to mute/silent mode, then back to ring mode. Here's how you do it:

Follow these instructions if you want to test this workaround:

  1. Toggle the Ringer switch to Silent mode from the top left edge of your handset. The sound is turned off, and the switch is in the red/orange position. When the quiet mode is enabled and the phone is muted, a notification flashes briefly on the screen.
  2. Switch your iPhone back to ring mode after a few seconds by flipping the switch again.

If the switch looks to be stuck, remove any cases that might be obstructing it. After that, reboot your iPhone and see if you can hear sounds from it.

Aso Make sure your volume isn't too low. The volume level on your iPhone may be determined by pressing the Volume Up or Volume Down button on the side.
