The ‘Aryabhatta’ India’s First Satellite was named in the name of the famous Indian mathematician. And was launched from Kapustin, Yar. This is a Soviet Rocket launch and development site in Astrakhan Oblast using a Kosmos-3M launch vehicle.
What is Aryabhatta?
Aryabhatta was the first Indian Satellite. It was completely fabricated and designed in India and named after the name of an Ancient Indian Mathematician in the 5th century AD. It was launched by the Russians on 19 April 1975, from Kapustin Yar, using the Kosmos – 3M the orbit time was 96.3 minutes and had an apogee of about 619 Km and the Perigee of 563 Km and the inclination was 50.7 degrees.
It was built by theIndian Space Research Organisation(ISRO). the objective of the spacecraft was to conduct research and experiment in X-ray astronomy,Solar Physics, and aeronomy.
The structure of the Satellite was having a 26 sided Polygon with a diameter of 1.6 meters and all the faces were covered with Solar cells. The failure of the experiment has happened just after the 4 days in orbit and all the signals from the spacecraft were lost on the 5th day of the operation. The Satellite reentered the earth’s orbit on 11 February 1992.
Launch
The launch came out as an agreement between India and the Soviet Union and was Directed by the U R Rao and signed the agreement and the result of the agreement was the launch. And it was launched by India using Russia’s launch vehicle. For the launch purpose, India allowed the Russian Scientist to research and experiment with the ports and launching vessels in return for launching various different Indian Satellites
