Poonam Yadav (born 24 August 1991) became the only Indian woman cricketer who got recommended by BCCI (Board For Cricket Control In India) for the prestigious Arjuna Award 2019 which the premium sports achievement award given by Sports Ministry, Government of India to players of various sports for their outstanding achievement towards the sport.  This announcement was made on 27 April 2019. The other three male Indian cricketers who got recommend by the Indian Cricket board were fast bowler Mohammad Shami, All-Rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Poonam Yadav is an Indian cricketer who plays for the Indian women cricket team. She made her debut in International cricket on 5 April 2013 in a Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) match against Bangladesh women cricket team. She made her debut in Test Series on 16 November 2014 against South Africa and her ODI debut was on 12 April 2013 against Bangladesh.


She plays the role of the job of spin bowler in the team and her batting style is Right-hand aggressive bat and bowling style is Leg spinner.  Her special deliveries include flipper, zooter, googly and traditional leg break. Her jersey number is 24 which she believes to be lucky.
