The Goodwill Ambassador of Street Child Cricket World Cup 2019, is “Mithali Raj” the Captain of Women’s Cricket team along with ex-cricket player of team India “Saurav Ganguly” and IPL franchise “Rajasthan Royals”.
It is the first ever Cricket World Cup for street children which are organized ahead of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in Wales and England. The Street Child Cricket World Cup tournament is a great example of gender equality where boys and girls will play together. All the games will be organized at the Lords Cricket Stadium. There are two teams i.e. India North and India South, are put together for Cricket World Cup by the foundations Save the Children, HOPE Foundation, Magic Bus, and Karunalaya.
The Street Child Cricket Tournament is being organized with the help of local foundations by Street Child United (SCU), the United Kingdom based organization. The Street Child United Organization has its legacy in organizing street child tournaments during many major sports festivals like the FIFA World Cup in South Africa and Russia, Olympics in Brazil, and many more sporting events. The sole aim of organizing the tournament is to unite people from different nations and provide a platform and guide the career of children’s belongs from lower category or streets.
For the children’s belonging form streets, sports can not only change the future of the child but also attract a good amount of public support for children who live on the streets. As well as, all these children will get an opportunity to play at Lord’s Cricket Stadium, which used to be a dream for many budding players. In addition to all this, PTC India Financial Services Ltd. extended its hand in support for the team to create National and International visibility of children.
