If your Touch ID starts to malfunction after you install new applications or an iOS update, you can assume it's a software issue caused by flaws or that the newly downloaded files are damaged. A soft reset could be able to assist you with these issues. Here's how to do it right on your iPhone 6s:

  1. Hold the Sleep/Wake (Power) button down until the Slide to Power Off option shows.
  2. To turn off your gadget fully, drag the slider.
  3. Allow roughly 30 seconds to pass.
  4. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears after the time has passed.

You may forcibly restart your iPhone 6s if it stops responding or becomes stuck. Here's how to do it:

  1. For at least 10 seconds, press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake (Power) buttons simultaneously.
  2. When the Apple logo displays, release both presses.

Neither strategy will have an impact  your iPhone data thus both are safe methods to try on.
