- The longer your MacBook Pro has been around, the more likely you are to be able to upgrade it. When Apple launched Retina, the internal workings altered a little, but the various models still have a lot in common.
- The MacBook Air has fewer options, although the SSD and battery should be upgradeable. Unfortunately, the 12in MacBook cannot be upgraded.
