- The longer your MacBook Pro has been around, the more likely you are to be able to upgrade it. You'll discover that an older MacBook Pro is surprisingly straightforward to enhance once you get the bottom cover removed (see our advise on the best tools here). When Apple launched Retina, the internal workings altered a little, but the various models still have a lot in common.
- The MacBook Air has fewer options, although the SSD and battery should be upgradeable. Unfortunately, the 12in MacBook cannot be upgraded.
