Denagamage Praboth Mahela de Silva Jayawardene known as Mahela Jayawardene was born on 27 May 1977 is a former coach and former cricketer of Sri Lanka. He holds the record for the most number of catches in the one day International with 218 catches. He was master in playing spin bowling. His record 374 runs against South Africa is the highest test score by any right-handed batsman in the history of test cricket.
Jayawardene made his Test and one day debut in the year of 1997. He is the first in the Sri Lankan history who has made more than 10,000 test runs. In 2006 Jayawardene named as the best captain of the year by International Cricket Council and 2007 as the beat test player of the year.
Sri Lanka has won the Cricket World Cup in 1996, the ICC Champions Trophy in 2002 and ICC worlds T-20 in 2014.
