Sukhdev Prasad (born on 20th May 1921) an Indian politician was the first Minister of Steel. He was the Union Deputy Minister for Steel and Mines from 1973 to 1977. Prasad was from the Indian National Congress (INC) party. He was the member of the upper house of the parliament which is Rajya Sabha (Council of States). Prasad represented Uttar Pradesh and was elected Member of Parliament twice from this constituency. First, he was in office from 1966 to 1978 and on the second occasion from 1982-1988. Apart from being the Member of Parliament twice, Prasad was also the 11th Governor of Rajasthan from 20th February 1988 to 3rd February 1990. Sukhdev Prasad passed away on 19th May 1995 at the age of 74.
