(Sukhdev Prasad First Minister of Steel)

**Sukhdev Prasad (born on 20th May 1921)** an Indian politician was **the first Minister of Steel**. He was the **Union Deputy Minister for Steel and Mines from 1973 to 1977**. Prasad was from the Indian National Congress (INC) party. He was the **member of the upper house of the parliament** which is **Rajya Sabha (Council of States)**. Prasad represented **Uttar Pradesh** and was elected Member of Parliament **twice** from this constituency. First, he was in office from **1966 to 1978** and on the second occasion from **1982-1988**. Apart from being the Member of Parliament twice, Prasad was also the **11th Governor of Rajasthan** from **20th February 1988 to 3rd February 1990**. Sukhdev Prasad passed away on **19th May 1995** at the age of **74**.
