The First session of the assembly began as on 11 am on 9 November 1946. 211 members were attended the first session of the assembly. the Muslim League and the Princely states representatives have also joined the assembly by the early 1949. The Assembly has approved the draft constitution on 26 January 1949.  the effect of the Indian constitution came in to ruling as on 26 January 1950 and the day is celebrated as the Republic Day of India. Hence in this way, the first assembly became the first parliament of Independent India and the then Parliament was in continu9ing in ruling until the next election was held as on 1952.

when the constituent assembly was made and the only moto of the assembly was to draft the constitution of  India. The Assembly was elected by the Provincial Assembly of British India. Following India's independence from British Government in 1947, the member of the assembly were also get the name of the first parliamentary member of the Indian Constitution.


the idea for making such a constituent assembly was proposed by M.N Roy in 1934 which was used to represent the communist movement of the India and he was also an advocate of then India.Indian National Congress made the special demand for such assembly in 1935, The Indian National Congress held its session at Lucknow in April 1936 presided by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. The official demand for Constituent Assembly was raised and the Government of India Act, 1935 was rejected as it imposed the Constitution which was against the will of the Indians. C. Rajagopalachari voiced the demand for a Constituent Assembly on 15 November 1939 based on adult franchise and was accepted by the British in August 1940.


Organization 

Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as the president and Its vice-president was Harendra Comer Mukherjee, a Christian from Bengal and former vice-chancellor of Calcutta University. Also chairing the assembly's Minorities Committee, Mukherjee was appointed governor of West Bengal after India became a republic. Jurist B. N. Rau was appointed constitutional adviser to the assembly; Rau prepared the original draft of the constitution and was later appointed a judge in the Permanent Court of International Justice in The Hague.

The assembly's work had five stages:

Committees presented reports on issues.

B.N. Rau prepared an initial draft based on the reports and his research into the constitutions of other nations.

The drafting committee, chaired by B. R. Ambedkar, presented a detailed draft constitution which was published for public discussion.

The draft constitution was discussed, and amendments proposed and enacted.

The constitution was adopted, with a committee of experts led by the Congress Party (known as the Congress Assembly Party) played a pivotal role.[3]
