The 14th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas was held at “Bangaluru, Karnataka”, the IT Hub of India. The theme of the event began on January 9, 2017, is “Redefining Engagement with the Indian Diaspora”.

The conventions main event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, and the Indian-Origin Portugal Prime Minister, Dr. Antonio Costa. The Portugal Prime Minister was also the chief guest of the 14th edition of Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas.
The event was inaugurated with the aim to connect with the youth, i.e. the new generation of Pravasis who are living all over the world. The Digital India Campaign also played the major role to get the success to Pravasi Bhartiya Divas. The event was held from January 7 to January 9, 2017. The Pravasi Bhartiya Divas was organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, the Government of India. The significance of the event is to remember the favors and contributions made by Non-Resident Indians to the Welfare and Development of the Nation.
It is an Annual event which has been organized since 2003, by the Ministry of External Affairs, but after 2015 the event became Biennial. So, there was no event in 2016, and the 14th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas was held in the year 2017. The event was started to develop the interaction between the Indian Diaspora and the Indian Government. This provides a single platform to all to put forward their grievances and issues in front of the government.
The new logo of Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas was decided by the government in 2016, and Debasish Sarkar was awarded for the logo, in a Joint Press Conference of Ministry of External Affairs and the Karnataka Government. Like this was the new logo was introduced in the 14th Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas of the year 2016.
