The thing which I hate the most :
Pretending to have a mental illness just screams attention seeker.
As someone who suffers from mental illness, it is absolutely disgusting to see people having a mental illness to be trendy and get attention. People who fake it are usually really easy to spit, since they constantly talk about it. Since they talk about it a lot, people will start asking them what's wrong and give them more attention. This can have negative effects on people actually suffering from real mental illnesses by keeping help away from them or causing people to not believe them when they say that they have a mental illness.
I know someone who a lot of people know is faking depression. This person keeps saying that they are “really depressed” about one small thing, but everyone who knows them knows how fake they are. You don't just get depression from one thing- it's a number of factors.
It's even worse when people try to romanticize it. There will be scenes in movies, TV shows, and maybe even books that describe how romantic depression is, and then when people are exposed to the truth of it, they say that it's too gruesome and that it shouldn't be shown in movies, TV shows, and books. The real truth is that mental illness has a lot of serious effects, and people really need to be made aware of it so that help will be easier to come by.
If you have ever faked a mental illness, then you are a disgusting human being that is just an attention seeker.
