In honor of his mom Nagla Devi, Krishnadevaraya established the city of Nagalapura near Vijaynagar. He constructed several temples, ponds, and Gopurams.

Krishnadevaraya was the Emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire from 1509 till 1529. He was the Tuluva Dynasty's third ruler. After the fall of the Delhi Sultanate, he governed India's biggest kingdom. Many Indians see him as an idol since he presided over the kingdom at its pinnacle. Karnatakaratna simhasanadeeshwara, Yavvana raja pratistaphanacharya, Kannada Rajya Rama Ramana, Andhra Bhoja, Gaubrahmana Pratipalaka, and Mooru Rayara Ganda are some of Krishnadevaraya's titles. He defeated the sultans of Bijapur, Golconda, the Bahmani Sultanate, and the Gajapatis of Odisha to become the dominating ruler of the peninsula and one of India's most prominent Hindu kings. Yet, when the Mughal Emperor Babur ranked the North Indian potentates, he ranked Krishnadevaraya as one of the most dominant, having the largest kingdom on the continent. Among his many aliases were 'Kannada Rajya Rama Ramana,' 'Andhra Bhoja,' and 'Mooru Rayara Ganda.'

During his reign, Portuguese adventurers Domingo Paes and Fernao Nuniz visited the Vijayanagara Empire. According to travelogues, the king was a capable administrator as well as a capable general, leading from the combat front and even caring for the injured. The monarch unexpectedly modified combat plans on many occasions, converting a lost war into a win. Muku Timmana, a poet, acclaimed him as the Turkic slayer. The capable prime minister Timmarusu, whom Krishnadevaraya considered as a father figure and who was responsible for his crowning, aided him. The smart Tenali Ramakrishna gave Krishnadevaraya sound advice.
