I’m editing an article about a technical subject for readers who are smart but may not know the specialist vocabulary. When I remove jargon, I sometimes worry that I’ve also removed an important qualification or made a process sound simpler than it is.
How do you decide what needs a plain-language explanation, what deserves a short example, and what detail can safely go? I’d love to hear how other writers preserve technical article accuracy without turning every paragraph into a wall of caveats.
