Overview

Parties like BJP or Congress have been accused of corruption time and again about both of them the question is which political party is more corrupt BJP or Congress. The BJP has also been mired in huge corruption scandals, as Congress has since independence, and its recent involvement in those controversies in particular, since it won power in 2014, has not done it any favors.

Which party is the most corrupt BJP or Congress

Congress and Corruption Allegations: Congress, India’s oldest political party, has been tied to many of the country’s biggest scandals. The Bofors Scandal in which the defense deals during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure were riddled with allegations of kickaways was one most infamous. It also added further to the losses inflicted by the 2G Spectrum Scam in 2008, under the UPA government of Congress, which were of billions of dollars for the Indian government. But in another major controversy also in 2010 the Commonwealth Games scam where it is alleged that funds which were supposed to be spent in organising the Games were diverted through various fraudulent means.

BJP and Corruption Allegations: The fact that the BJP says it is a clean governance party has not saved it from being exposed to some serious accusations. In 2013, the scam of Vyapam involving BJP linked officials came to the fore when a massive scam of recruitment and admissions was unrolled. In 2016, the Rafale Deal controversy was also debated hugely, with opposition parties targeting Government of Modi that he was partial in a high profile defense deal. Also, while the Nirav Modi banking scam in 2018 included a private person, it shed light over the time in which BJP was at the helm on regulatory oversight as well.

Conclusion

Corruption scandals between BJP and Congress are nothing new, each party alleging misgovernance and financial misconduct of the other. Depending upon the reader's political preferences and media narratives, opinion is widely varied toward who is the more corrupt; this would not be considered as the one with the most comprehensive or most defined system. The level of corruption is not only determined by the Voting Party, but also by their understanding and discharge of the responsibility of accountability and transparencies in the government.
