What's the brand new update on green building tasks?

There isn’t one global update to green building tasks; requirements differ by country and project. But the direction of travel is clear: teams are being asked to measure a building’s full climate impact, not just its energy use once it is occupied.

That means more attention to whole-life carbon assessment—including emissions from construction materials and building work—as well as product environmental declarations that show the impact of specific materials. On site, low-carbon concrete, material reuse and waste tracking are becoming more common parts of the job.

Operational tasks are also shifting toward efficient electric heating and cooling, renewable power, and monitoring real energy use after handover. Climate resilience—such as planning for heat, flooding and water stress—is increasingly part of the design brief too.
