The Ganges River has its own significance. In Indian mythology ganga river is worshiped and known as holy river for the people. They believed that bathing in ganga river can clean their negativity and their past issues.

Rituals were performed on the bank of river ganga like birth and death ceremonies. Some prayers were done also. Some of the places where Kumbh mela also happed every 12 years like Varanasi and Haridwar. There is no Kumbh mela in Varanasi but it is the Home of Lord Shiva.

Also Ganga River is originated from the hair of Lord Shiva because of the heavy flow. It is also the second longest river in India.

In West Bengal it is known as hoogly. In north side it is known as Bhagirathi.

So there are so many significances of Ganga River.
