Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates visited the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) office in Mumbai to explore business opportunities in various sectors, including health and education. During his visit, Gates met with RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and held wide-ranging discussions.
In his blog, "Gates Notes," Gates expressed his admiration for India's ability to tackle big challenges and solve problems at scale, even during multiple crises. He also mentioned his interest in conducting business and other activities in India.
Gates is known for his philanthropic work in the health sector, and his foundation has joined hands with India's public sector and CGIAR institutions to support researchers at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI). They have found chickpea varieties that have higher yields and are more drought-resistant than current ones.
Apart from his philanthropic work, Gates is also a prominent advocate for climate change action and is expected to discuss ways in which India can accelerate its transition to clean energy and reduce its carbon footprint.
