Is being selfish bad?

Being 'selfish' isn't always a bad thing as you may assume it's like putting yourself first and not others. There are instances in which it is beneficial to your health and well-being to be selfish. These are also periods when it's important to look after oneself.

Everyone occasionally needs assistance, but we frequently put off asking for it. Even while not asking for help results in more stress, sometimes asking for help can make you feel weak, inadequate, or needy, whether we like it or not.

Know Your Emotions.

No matter whether you're feeling worn out emotionally, psychologically, or physically, it's time to take a break. That simply boils down to sleep at times.

When you decide to stay home rather than go out, some people might not understand. Don't feel self centred if you want to spend time alone if that's what you're in the mood to do.

Sometimes Loneliness Helps.

Some people require more alone time than others, but we all occasionally need it. For some people, social engagements can be draining. Taking time for oneself is nothing to be ashamed of.

It might be a good idea to schedule some alone time if you've been going nonstop, your mood is out of control, or you need to review your relationships.

If you don't want to, you don't have to schedule a lot of social activities. Take a bath, disengage, and enjoy some much-needed 'me time.'

Taking Rest.

Lack of sleep has a range of negative effects, such as difficulty concentrating, a compromised immune system, and memory problems. Too much sleep deprivation might be harmful to your relationships. However, we frequently feel as though we must continue. Sometimes we don't put getting enough sleep first.

We do, however, require rest. Find some work-life balance if you've been working late and skipping sleep. And it's acceptable if you decide to stay in bed the following night rather than go out for cocktails with pals.

Conclusion.

We frequently continue in relationships or friendships because we are afraid of harming someone. But there are instances when you have to prioritise your needs when dealing with unhealthy relationships.

It is not self-sustaining to stay in a relationship, employment, or any other situation that no longer fulfils you, especially if it is abusive in any manner. It could be time to part ways if something is negatively hurting your well-being.
