At an elevation of roughly 910 m (3,000 ft), near to the Bangladeshi border, Balpakram National Park is a national park in Meghalaya, India, south of the Garo Hills. It was established in December 1987 and offers habitat for Indian elephants, red pandas, Bengal tigers, Asian golden cats, wild water buffalo, and barking deer.

When and How to Visit?

From late October to May, when the weather is warm and dry, is the ideal time to visit Balpakram National Park. The Guwahati airport to Tura and Baghmara is the closest road from Shillong to the park. The park's gate will require payment for admission. 

Famous for 

The Lesser Panda, or Red Panda as it is more frequently known, is one of the rarest species in the entire world. Balpakram is well known for its canyon-cum-gorge, which is now a part of a National Park and is covered in forest. The Balpakram plateau and surrounding woodlands are also included in the park.
