An overview of Aravalli Biodiversity Park:

The Aravalli Biodiversity Park (ABP) is being created on a land area of 699 acres which is located northwest of Vasant Vihar. The site is highly degraded due to past mining and infested with Prosopis juliflora (Vilayati kikar). The biodiversity of Delhi is nearly extinct. The main objective of Aravalli Biodiversity Park is to bring back the lost biodiversity of Delhi Aravallis. The other purpose of Aravalli Biodiversity Park is to promote nature education among students and create environmental awareness among the public.

You can easily visit the Aravalli Biodiversity Park, at present, either from the Vasant Vihar- Poorvi Marg gate located about 4 km southwest of Moti Bagh and 2 km west of Jawahar Lal Nehru University, or you can also use the route from the Vasant Kunj Institutional gate which is about 3.5 km north of Mahipalpur and one km west of Vasant Kunj Malls. The Aravalli Biodiversity Park has more than 240 plant species of medicinal importance. Some important species of them are Asthama bel, Brahmi, Gugal, Dardpaat, Rudraksha, Hadjod, Van tulsi, Rakt Madar, Nirgundi, etc.

‘The Aravalli Biodiversity Park’ is located in which state?

The Aravalli Biodiversity Park was announced to be India’s first “other effective area based on the conservation measures” (OECM) site on the event of World Wetlands Day. The announcement was created by officials of the Union ministry of environment, forest, and climate change on the date of 3 rd February 2022.

The park was changed into a city forest from a 40-year-old mining location through the efforts of citizens, scientists, and ecologists, along with the help of the urban local body of Gurugram.
