AI usually refers to finding the solutions to problems through computer systems and advanced technologies that usually require human intelligence. It is concerned with carrying out complex activities through computer systems.
Some common examples of AI could be Alexa, Siri, Robo-advisors, and many more.
Hereby listed are the 4 main types of Artificial Intelligence (AI):
- Reactive Machines: A reactive machine implies that it is designed with a perspective of just fulfilling some specific duties and is not able to store any memory or perform multiple tasks.
- Limited Memory: Limited Memory implies fulfilling greater responsibilities than Reactive Machines and it refers to storing previous data which can be used later for future predictions.
- Theory Of Mind: This concept is rather more theoretical. It refers to understanding people's minds and the decisions they can take to make decisions of their own.
- Self-Awareness: Self Awareness depends on human researchers to first understand the consciousness and then be able to learn to replicate them effectively using machines.
How Does Artificial Intelligence work?
As soon as the mathematician Alan Turing changed history for the first time by breaking the Nazi encryption machine Enigma and helping the Allied Forces to win world war 2, he again changed history by raising one simple question,' Can machines think?'
This question itself marked the entry of Artificial Intelligence. And then, different approaches were taken into consideration for AI rising in the tech industry.
The authors Stuart Russell and Peter Norvig identified 4 different approaches that defined the meaning of AI.
Hereby listed are the 4 approaches:
- Rational Thinking
- Human-based Thinking
- Being Human
- Being Rational
Generally, Artificial Intelligence lies between two broad categories:
- Narrow AI: It refers to using artificial intelligence that is limited to an extent and can perform a single task and is considered one of the most basic artificial intelligence.
- Artificial General Intelligence (AGI): It refers to artificial intelligence which is much stronger in terms of solving any problem and is considered one of the most advanced versions in replication of human intelligence.
