Impacts of climate change
When it comes toclimate change, the consequences can be catastrophic. Climate risk is a concept that shows how much a country is vulnerable to the direct impacts of climate change- be it in the form of deaths or economic losses.
The climate changes at a prolonged rate and most of us might not notice it, but a slight change in the climate causes significant effects on Earth. Climate change affects everyone and the whole Earth in general, but climate change causes catastrophic situations for some areas.
Due to climate change, the polar ice caps of the Arctic and Antarctic have started to melt. This has caused a rise in the sea water level and created alarming situations for island countries like Japan, Sri Lanka, and many more. Climate change has also primarily affected the framing and plantation activities. Severe droughts have ravaged the plantations of the farmers and placed them in a pitiful state. This lack of production of food crops has resulted in a worldwide shortage of food.
We all know that rain is the only source that refills groundwater and surface water bodies apart from the polar ice caps. But rainfall patterns have fluctuated widely in most places due to climate changes. This has resulted in a shortage of drinking water and water available for irrigation and other purposes. Also, due to a lack of rainfall, groundwater levels are getting lowered daily.
Thus, climate change has affected humans primarily. But that does not mean it has spared the animals. The difference in climate has affected the animals by affecting their food sources, water access, and even habitat.
