A bus topology is used in a LAN (Local Area Network) when multiple nodes are connected to a single cable rather than a single backbone. To connect various devices, a coaxial cable/RJ-45 cable is used. When there is a problem with the cable in a bus topology, the entire network fails. A network may have alternate cables for safety reasons. This is a very simple network topology in comparison to other topologies because it can be easily configured.

  • To connect two floors with a single line, a bus topology is used.
  • An Ethernet network employs a bus topology.
  • In this network topology, one computer acts as a server, while the other acts as a client.
  • The server's primary function is to exchange data between different client computers.
  • A bus topology network is used to connect printers and I/O devices in offices or at home.
