Bus network topologies are used when a small, low-cost, and often temporary network that does not require very high data-transfer speeds is required. They could be used in places like a laboratory or an office.
A bus topology is used in a LAN (Local Area Network) when multiple nodes are connected to a single cable rather than a single backbone. To connect various devices, a coaxial cable/RJ-45 cable is used. When there is a problem with the cable in a bus topology, the entire network fails.
