A tree topology is a type of structure in which many connected elements are arranged in the shape of tree branches. Tree topologies, for example, are frequently used to organise computers in a corporate network or information in a database.

There can only be one connection between any two connected nodes in a tree topology. Tree topologies create a natural parent and child hierarchy because any two nodes can only have one mutual connection.

A tree topology is also known as a star bus topology in computer networks. It combines elements of both a bus and a star topology.
