The AMD Ryzen 5 3550H mobile SoC was released in January 2019. It combines four Zen+ cores (8 threads) clocked at 2.1 GHz to 3.7 GHz with a Radeon RX Vega 8 graphics adapter clocked at up to 1,200 MHz. When compared to the similar Ryzen 5 3500U, the 3550H has a 20 Watt higher TDP and thus performs better under long periods of load. DDR4-2400 memory is supported by the integrated dual-channel memory controller.
According to AMD, the Picasso APUs are approximately 8% faster than their predecessors. The 3550H, with its 35 Watt TDP, should be a capable mid-range processor for laptops, including gaming laptops. The performance should be comparable to a Ryzen 5 2500U or a Ryzen 7 2700U.
