Ryzen is an AMD CPU aimed at the server, desktop, workstation, media centre PC, and all-in-one markets. AMD's Ryzen processors have eight cores and 16 threads running at 3.4GHz with 20MB cache, neural net-based prediction hardware, and smart prefetch. Ryzen, codenamed Zen in development, is AMD's first major architectural change since Bulldozer.
The AMD processor runs on new 1331 pin AM4 socket motherboards shared by FX and APU models in high-end systems. DDR4 RAM and PCIe Gen3 are supported by AM4 motherboards. Ryzen can be used as a system on a chip in low-cost, bare-bones configurations. Other chipset-enabled features on the AM4 include more PCIe slots, improved sound, SATA express, and USB 3.1 gen2 10Gbs connectivity.
