The AMD processor runs on new 1331 pin AM4 socket motherboards shared by FX and APU models in high-end systems. DDR4 RAM and PCIe Gen3 are supported by AM4 motherboards. Ryzen can be used as a system on a chip in low-cost, bare-bones configurations. Other chipset-enabled features on the AM4 include more PCIe slots, improved sound, SATA express, and USB 3.1 gen2 10Gbs connectivity.
