Intel is one of the world's oldest processor manufacturers. It has been at the top of the market for quite some time. AMD is still a competitor; however, the company as a whole is trailing Intel more than it was previously and is still relatively new to the large market.
Intel creates its processors and chipsets from the start. They have invested in all phases, including design, fabrication, implementation, and sales. AMD, on the other hand, employs a fabless business model in which they outsource chip production to third-party partners. AMD has partnered with TSMC to manufacture the chip.
