Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposed the introduction of a crypto tax in the Union Budget 2022, under which virtual digital assets will be taxed at 30% in India.
Taxation will be imposed on cryptocurrency assets: Some modifications to income tax laws announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the presentation of the Union Budget 2022 will take effect on April 1, 2022. A tax on cryptocurrencies and other digital assets is one of them.
'Any income from the transfer of any virtual digital asset shall be taxed at a rate of 30%,' Nirmala Sitharaman declared in the Union Budget 2022.
