The fact that so many diplomats, officials, and ministers from around the world have recently flocked to New Delhi makes it clear that India is a rising global giant.
India is the focal point of the Joe Biden administration's Indo-Pacific policy in the US; Indian Foreign and Defense Ministers recently met with their American counterparts in a '2+2' summit. Even though there is disagreement between the two nations about the Russia-Ukraine Conflict, one of the most concerning geopolitical concerns in the world, it is in their mutual interests to put aside disagreements and maintain ongoing collaboration. A wide range of topics are covered by the India-US bilateral partnership today, including the response to CoViD-19, post-pandemic economic recovery, the climate crisis and sustainable development, critical and emerging technologies, supply chain resilience, education, the diaspora, and defense and security. The breadth and depth of Indo-US relations continue to be unrivalled, and the factors fostering this alliance have been expanding at a never-before-seen pace.
Since both the strategic elite and the interpersonal level are involved in the relationship, it continues to be special. Even though India and the US have had mostly divergent reactions to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the two leaders of the world's two most powerful democracies recently indicated their willingness to bridge their differences in order to reach amicable solutions.
India and the US have reaffirmed their dedication to building on the momentum of recent years while maintaining awareness of the bigger strategic picture.
Resulted from the most recent 2+2 dialogue
As the two countries strive to strengthen their collaboration in cyberspace and outer space to enhance capabilities in both 'war-fighting domains,' the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on space situational awareness was signed during the dialogue.
They also decided to boost joint cyber exercises and training while establishing the first Defense Artificial Intelligence Dialogue.
The US secretary of defense noted that the US and India had 'discovered new potential to extend the operational reach of our forces and to coordinate more closely together throughout the width of the Indo-Pacific.' The US and India have a rapidly expanding defense alliance. In a stern statement, the US also noted that China was building 'dual-use infrastructure' near India's border and vowed to 'continue to stand beside' India in defending her sovereign interests.
For now the relationship seem quite good.
