- The Apple Pencil is an iPad-compatible stylus designed by Apple. The Apple Pencil gets its name from its similarity to a standard pencil, although with an Apple-esque aesthetic.
- Apple Pencil is compatible with every iPad model that Apple presently sells. The only current iPad that works with the first-generation Apple Pencil is the entry-level iPad. The second-generation Apple Pencil is compatible with the iPad Air 5, iPad mini 6, and iPad Pro 2021 models.
- Pen input is now standard on all iPad devices. The iPad was designed to allow finger-based multitouch input from the start, although there were several styli available for the iPad even back then, like the once-popular Pogo Stylus that imitated a slim finger.
- The original Apple Pencil (A1603, MK0C2AM/A) is supported with full-size iPad models from the iPad 6th Gen, 7th Gen, 8th Gen, and current 9th Gen lines.
