What if the internet never existed?
  • Hundreds of thousands of people would be laid off, with Google employing 80,000 full-time employees.
  • Even businesses that rely only on the Internet for advertising would be impacted. Developed countries would lose entire industries, resulting in a severe economic downturn.
  • They would be impacted as well, because worldwide trade relies on the Internet. The same may be said for global transportation. We'd have to go back to tracking products on paper if there was no Internet access between airports, planes, ships, railroads, and commercial truckers
  • Because delivering items to stores would be more difficult, the market value of delivered things would rise.
